WTJR-TV schedules Children’s educational and informational programming on a regular basis. Descriptions of qualifying programming are maintained at the WTJR offices at 222 North Sixth Street, Quincy, IL, 62301. All children’s programming reports FCC #398 are filed on the tenth day following the end of each quarter in the station’s public file. Program Descriptions: check schedule for airtimes and to make sure program is still aired by WTJR. The program schedule changes monthly, not all shows listed are current programs. The program Schedule will list programs that are E/I (Educational/Informational along with respective age group).

ADVENTURES IN ODYSSEY – Ages 6 to 12. Meet John Avery Whittaker, Connie, and all the gang as you fly on the wings of imagination to Whit’s End. Adventures in Odyssey brings you fast-paced family adventure for children of all ages.

ADVENTURES OF ENOCH – Ages 6 to 15. An educational program that utilizes an entertainment-based medium to communicate and teach profound discoveries and basic truths that are key to understanding our modern scientific world. Designed along with an advisory group of five schoolteachers and educational specialists, the program explains the scientific discoveries behind energy, force, motion, light, sound, air, water, electricity, magnetism, computers, and more, while exploring concepts of accuracy and precision.

AL DENSON – Ages 13 to 18. Educates and informs children with a program talking with teens and their day-to-day problems and what the Bible says about them. Hosted by Al Denson, this program utilizes the latest Christian musical artists to encourage the youth.

ANIMAL ACTION – Ages 5 to 12. Get up close and personal with Eddie, Greg, and a wide variety of animals in God’s kingdom. This is a show with lots of humor! The whole family will enjoy the interaction!

BECKY’S BARN – Ages 2 to 7. Educational as in learning the alphabet, colors, crafts, musical notes, etc. Also informational in humanitarian values such as honesty, anger, fear, joy, forgiveness, love, thankfulness, patience and cooperation.

BJ TEDDY BEAR CLUB – Ages 2 to 5. A stimulating and imaginative program designed to educate and entertain while introducing young children to colors, letters, numbers, and special stories right out of the Bible! The star of the show is BJ (Bearsheba J. Bear), a lovable animated teddy bear who takes the children on an unforgettable journey through the bible.

BUGTIME – Ages 2 to 5. Computer animated children’s program displaying Godly values through insect characters in the garden.

BUZZ & POPPY – Ages 8 to 12. Enter the exciting world of the adventures of two young Huhu bugs who educate children about timeless life lessons on courage, family, teamwork, honesty, problem solving, and more. Set in the New Zealand rain forest, this program includes a zany cast of animated characters who interact with Buzz and Poppy, all in eye-popping 3-D animation.

CHERUB WINGS - Ages 3 to 10. A delightful animated series for young children. Kids will easily remember the songs and stories as told by Cherub, the angel whose job is to communicate God’s Love. It entertains and teaches wholesome values at the same time.

DAVEY & GOLIATH - Ages 4 to 12. Educates and informs children; it helps children with day-to-day problems, and what the Bible says about it.

DISCOVERY JONES - Ages 8 to 12. An exciting children’s program hosted by Discovery Jones (a take off of Indiana Jones), with a Christian perspective. This fast paced, excellently produced program educates children about the world around them.

DOOLEY AND PALS - Ages 2 to 5. A unique children’s show built on the concept of education through entertainment and discovery. This program combines live action with 3-D animation, talented children and dozens of original songs.

GERBERT - Ages 2 to 10. Captures the innocence of childhood; encouraging pre- and grade school age children to become comfortable with who they are and who they can become tomorrow. Teaches Judeo-Christian values and principles.

GET ON BOARD- Ages 4 to 12. This children’s show is designed to meet the spiritual needs of children and teach them moral values through puppets, stories, songs, etc.

GINA D’S KIDS – Ages 2 to 5. The main character, Gina D, is a fun loving and positive role model who connects with her 2 to 5 year old aged audience in the same familiarity that children associate with their mothers. Characters include Simon Wannabe, Mister Pockets, Miss Muffin, Pierre D?Artist, TV Ted, and Doggy Brown.

GOSPEL BILL – Ages 6 to 10. Set in fictional old west town of Dry Gulch. Sheriff Gospel bill teaches morality and responsibility based on the Bible. Instructs children on how to handle trials and struggles through the experience of the cast, that the children relate to, included in the skits, music, animals, etc.

HANDS ON CRAFTS FOR KIDS – Ages 8 to 12. This 26-week series teaches how to make crafts related to nature and camping. The series has a total of 65 projects that include a forest totem, a water bottle holder, and a butterfly net. Children will learn five projects in each show plus a special assignment on kids helping other kids through crafts.

IT’S ALL ABOUT YOUTH - Ages 12 to 16. Join host Laurie Faulkerson as she interacts with teens and young adults on the issues they face today. Taking a candid look at real life issues seldom talked about in Christian and church circles; topics like abortion, eating disorders, drugs, sex, music, and a whole lot more.

JC’S PLACE – Ages 13 to 25. Educates and informs about God’s love through skits, features and teaching, which incorporates a time of praise and worship.

JOY JUNCTION – Ages 8 to 12. Teaches children life lessons, educational facts, life skills, scripture lessons, and the application of these skills to their lives through games, songs, skits, quizzes and stories, all with moral and social values.

JUST KIDS – Ages 5 to 9. A program designed to inform children in both educational and spiritual matters through the use of informative and interesting segments. A cast of regular characters share insight that will help children grow in practical ways.

JUST THE FACTS - Ages 11 to 15. Can you stand up for God in a school–and a world–where people put Him down? Rod Hembree shows you how. Biblical truths taught to young people using high-tech methods.

K.I.C.K.S CLUB - Ages 4 to 12. Elmer the puppet hosts this show that teaches kids about Jesus. Website: www.kicksclub.org

KIDS LIKE YOU – Ages 6 to 12. People and puppets create a setting to teach Judeo-Christian values and principles via drama, skits, and song to grade school children, enhancing the spiritual aspect of their lives.

KINGSLEY’S MEADOW – Ages 8 to 12. This program series incorporates memorable original songs, live action, and puppetry to communicate to pre-school children how to handle life’s challenges, humanitarian values, virtues, and morality.

KINGDOM UNDER THE SEA
- Ages 2 to 8. Animated series that follows the escapades of two fish named Splash and Coral as they learn lessons about life from their mentor and ruler, the great whale king.

LIFT JESUS HIGHER -Ages 5 to 14. Educates and informs children about God and His love through the use of illustrated Bible stories, puppets, interviews and music.

Lil’ IGUANA - Ages 5 to 8. A wonderful character that lives in the rainforest with his family. During a horrific tropical storm he became separated from his family while trying to seek shelter in a cave. Magically, he found Storyland, the setting in which he teaches children lessons in safety.

LUGAR SECRETO (The Secret Garden) – Ages 4 to 12. This Spanish-speaking children’s program educates and informs children through the use of puppets, bible stories and songs.

MARILEE DAWN AND FRIENDS - Ages 7 to 11. This children’s series, takes young viewers on an exciting educational journey. Host, ventriloquist Marilee Dawn, uses a wide variety of methods to educate children. These methods include the use of music, puppets, Bible characters, interactive crafts, inspiring guests, and science projects. Many countries and cultures are also explored. Creative crafts stimulate their young imaginations, while the science projects develop their cognitive skills. Through this entertaining experience children are inspired to read, taught valuable manners, and conflict resolution. Ultimately, children’s character will mature and reflect Godly morals and values.

MARY LOU’S FLIP FLOP SHOP – Ages 4 to 12. Hosted by Olympic gold medallist and mother of four, Mary Lou Retton, this program combines the fresh educational concept of “creative movement” with a positive message. Children are encouraged to “get up and move” with themes centered around physical and mental health, music and dance, positive thinking, optimism, self-confidence, healthy living and fun! Retton is joined by a cast of costumed characters and a group of children who participate in the activities. This makes it easier for young viewers to get out of their seats and join in, which reinforces the educational objectives.

MXTV - Ages 13 to 19. Mission X Television or MXTV airs all over the world on 7 different broadcast networks with the message of Christ’s love. MXTV features hard rock, band interviews, live concerts, skateboarding, extreme sports, fishing, flying, and issues important to young people. Each episode has 2 or more rock videos, a message from the word of God, and an invitation to meet Jesus Christ.

NANNA PUDDIN’
– Ages 4 to 10. Award winning ventriloquist Dennis Lee hosts this action-packed half-hour of fast moving skits, songs, and special guests. Interwoven with the fun are solid messages teaching children how to make the best choices in life. All of the programs have an educational and informative format that enables anyone watching to laugh and learn the Nanna Puddin way. Each show is carefully written so that children watching will learn about the consequences of choice making in their daily lives. Positive reinforcement is emphasized so that children learn about following rules.

RORY AND WENDY SHOW - Ages 11 to 15. Discover the infectious, fun, and passionate style of Rory and Wendy Alec. Experienced television personalities with a global impact; their concern for the struggles, frustrations, and obstacles you face will be an amazing “connection point” that will challenge your perspective. This is a program about hope, and the difference it can make in the lives of millions.


SONSHINY DAY
-Ages 3 to 10. This program has a mix of human and puppet characters. The host, Audrey, along with her friends teach morality lessons and biblical themes through music, song and prayer.

STAR FAMILY (Heart Club for Kids) – Ages 5 to 8. Through the use of puppets, songs, bible stories, the alphabet, crafts, etc., the children are taught not only moral lessons, but also manual and mental dexterity.

THE GREAT DIVIDE – ages 4 to 8. One of 3 Gaither’s Pond shows. There’s always something fishy going on at Gaither’s Pond. Features 3D animation and Gaither songs.

THE REPPIES – Ages 6 to 12. A lively action show starring 5 reptiles who preach the Word of God thru their lives and music. They are here on a mission to bring glory and honor to our Father in Heaven. Children and their parents learn valuable life lessons through each Bible based adventure.

THE ZONE
– ages 13 to19. This contemporary Christian music video show for teens is a blend of music, culture and faith utilizing a studio audience of youth, artist interviews, and the feature story of the week-all in a culturally packaged and relevant style.

WORSHIP FOR KIDS – Ages 4 to 8. A program devoted to giving kids the opportunity to learn to worship God. Host Gary Richardson uses songs and Biblical readings to illustrate a moral teaching and challenges children to apply Christian values to every day life situations. Gramma Mac reads stories to children while pages from the book are shown on the screen. Upbeat sing-a-long songs aimed at children are synchronized to videos featuring nature scenes, children and animals.
